I arrived here Saturday afternoon and was quickly seated upon arrival. My friend and I ordered their hot pastrami French dip and their famous pastrami Swiss cheese and cole slaw on rye bread. When I tell you that we devoured it, we truly cleaned our plates! IT'S THAT GOOD!! Their pastrami is out of this world, SO tender, juicy, and delicious! The rye bread was very soft and its crunchy exterior gave it the perfect bite! I also really enjoyed the coleslaw! Its sweetness and freshness perfectly balanced the whole sandwich! These sandwiches were phenomenal and I CANNOT wait to be back for more!

You feel the history here...finally had a chance to dine-in after almost 6 years of wanting to. Hours are 8 am to 4 pm, M - Sa, close on Su. Came on a Thursday late morning, taking the train from DTLB. The MacArthur Park Metro stop is only half a block away. The area around the deli, train stop, and the park is very much alive, with a lot of street vendors setting up shop to hawk their wares, and we felt fine walking the area. That being said, I wouldn't walk around here at night (which is the way I feel about riding the Blue A line as well). As you walk walk-in, you think it's bigger than it actually is. It's one story, with a large section devoted to the to-go area, and booth/table combinations to the right. We came in a little before 11 am, and there were plenty of open tables. We were directed by the hostess to a nearby table for 4. What's interesting is that the other side of the booth is open and right next to a booth for 2...so if both are occupied, it's basically seating for 6 (and table for 2 is way too close to ignore the occupants presence without being rude). Service was excellent throughout. Water was brought once we sat down, and constantly kept filled...our waiter was watching our table throughout our meal. There was plenty of staff, all knowing what to do. It's a very well run operation, as you would expect for a deli with such longevity. We knew the sandwiches here are large, so figured we would get three different ones and share bites, and take the remainder home. I didn't find the word Reuben anywhere on the menu, but the number 44 ($24) is just that. The rye bread was well grilled with plenty of oil, and the corned beef was solid. The sauerkraut was excellent, tasted freshly made, not too sour. It came with a side of Thousand Island dressing so one can add as much as they want. My sandwich was the famous #19 for $24 (pastrami, swiss cheese, and cole slaw with Russian dressing). It was good...the pastrami was thick cut into chunks, and very tender. The cole slaw was fresh, not too vinegary. I would have enjoyed the bread grilled...pretty confident that they would have done that for me if asked. The final sandwich for my wife (who doesn't like brined deli meats) was the beef brisket french dip ($24.50), which she really loved. It came on a solid french roll, and the au jus on the side was excellent (right size ramekin to dip the torpedo sandwich into). All the sandwiches came with half of a pickle...wouldn't call the size a baby, but certainly not close to the giant homemade pickles that other world famous delis are known for. We also ordered a large crinkle cut fries ($6.50) and it was plenty to share among the three of us. It was expertly deep fried and tasted great (crunchy on the outside, soft and pillowey on the inside) The a la carte sandwiches are expensive, and the amount of filling given was average...was a little surprised at that for the price. The best meat I thought was the brisket, which is not what they are known for, since there are definitely better iterations at some TX BBQ places around town. But the service was excellent, and we were glad about coming here.

The food and drinks were fabulous. I had been to Langers in the 90s and was afraid the quality would've gone down by now however I was mistaken, the tongue was tender, the corn, beef and pastrami. We're both juicy all the vegetables on the plate were fresh. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. A gentleman named Norm Langer came by our table to greet us two thumbs up..

4.5 stars rounded up. NYC has Katz's. L.A. has Langer's. Pastrami is the destination. The 77-year-old deli is an L.A. institution & has a menu longer than your senior thesis. Though I haven't begun to scratch the surface of their offerings, I'm going to make the bold statement to forget everything else & stick to the thing for which Langer's is known. As the bro in the booth beside us so eloquently put it: This pastrami is better than sex! And, as it turns out, Langer's pastrami is better than their corned beef. The #54 sandwich ($29) combines the two meats in a generous stack on rye. Fall-apart tender, juicy, & tastes like my new favorite thing. We shared the sandwich & he also ordered a cheeseburger ($11) & pink lemonade ($4.50), both very good. Even though I'm lactose intolerant (damn these Asian genes!), I ordered a chocolate egg cream ($4.50) which is the best version of the fizzy drink I've had at a Jewish deli. We joked the small size of crinkle cut fries ($5) were frozen Ore Ida but it was all good because they were properly salted & crisp. We came to Langer's on a Thursday & were seated immediately but the retractable belt stanchions outside tell a story of long waits on the weekend. Grimy neighborhood, but if I were an Angeleno, I'd be taking advantage of Langer's curbside pickup on the regular.

Well worth the hype and drive! After seeing Langer's pop up on various must-try LA spots, we finally came by to try it for ourselves. First impressions, I thought it was a lot bigger than it looked from the outside and I loved the classic look of the interior. We were immediately greeted and seated within minutes on a Friday around noon. We were expecting a wait, so being seated right away was a nice surprise! We knew exactly what we wanted to order. A lot of people recommend the #19 and even our waitress suggested it. We also ordered the Pastrami Chili Cheese Fries and shared the #19 on Rye between the two of us. First bite in, we both nodded in agreement that it was delicious! This pastrami is probably the best I've ever had, super flavorful and tender. We could have ordered our own if we were more hungry, but it was enough for us to share along with the chili cheese fries. We will definitely be coming back again! One thing we didn't know was that they validate parking for the lot down the street, which is super helpful since street parking is tough in this area.

Langer's Delicatessen has been around since 1947. Langer's serves up a world class pastrami sandwich. I've been to many Jewish Delis in NYC and Langer's is just as good as the best of them. The #19 is the most popular order at Langer's. It consists of Pastrami, Swiss Cheese and Cole Slaw Russian Style Dressing. What I ordered: -Matzo Ball Soup $6 -#19 - Pastrami, Swiss Cheese and Cole Slaw Russian Style Dressing $24 -Cream Soda $4.50 -Knish $8 The Matzo Ball Soup tasted like something my Grandmother or Mother would make. It came with one matzo ball. It was very nostalgic for me to eat it. Takes me back to my childhood. I love when food can transport you back in time to another time. The #19 Pastrami Sandwich was an excellent sandwich. The pastrami was high quality pastrami and the texture was superb. Just take a look at this sandwich. It's a thing of beauty. The layering of the of the coleslaw and the pastrami and the cheese. It was very pleasing to look at this sandwich as well. Sounds weird to say that. Let's just say it's presented very well. I love the Rye Bread at Langer's as its nice and moist in the inside, but has a nice crunch to the crust on the outside. The Knish is pretty good. I will say the portion size is very healthy and it pairs quite well with the gravy. The Cream Soda was so refreshing and crisp. It was a proper deli soda. It wasn't overly sweet and had strong carbonation. Just how I like it. I'm looking forward to coming back to Langer's to try other deli items such as the potato latkes and the cheese blintzes. Langer is one of my top 5 LA institutions. In my personal opinion, Langer's #19 is the best sandwich in LA. Frank was great server. He was very attentive and a gentleman.

The most perfect pastrami sandwich and was so tasty. Great crunch on the bread crust and soft and doughy center. I don't know what else to say. If you want the best pastrami sandwich, don't miss this place. Service was friendly and fast and the booth seating was comfortable. There is a designated parking spot about a block away labeled specifically for the deli and they validate parking at the restaurant-- just make sure to ask for it.

It's been yours since I've been back to lingers. Passing through LA for some work I had a chance to stop by here again. came around 2 PM and it wasn't too busy was able to quickly find a booth and get sit down. The place is just as I remembered it and the food came out very fresh. I was able to order my usual with grilled bread this time fries very crispy and perfect. Love the ambience. Look forward to come back again always a five star. Pro tip: get the bread grilled!
